The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and ACT (American College Testing) are standardised tests used in the US college admissions process to measure applicants' developed verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities. The results provide an indication of a student's readiness for university.
Most US universities require students to submit an SAT or ACT score. They are a particularly important means for international students to demonstrate potential as curricula and learning experiences differ by region.
The SAT is comprised of three sections; Math, Evidence-Based Reading, and Writing. The ACT is similar but has the addition of a science component. The structure of these tests is different from what you're used to at school and an extra layer of preparation and revision is needed to obtain the best scores. So it's good to know what's what before facing them.

A recipient of awards for his writing, Matthew is currently working on a book aimed at naturalising the faculty of creativity. Matthew is the Director of Operations for Crimson Education in the UK and has helped countless students and families master the admissions process to world-leading universities.
